Dr. Aleksandra Ćwiek is a researcher in the Research Area 1 'Laboratory Phonology' and PI of the DFG project On the Flexibility and Stability of gesture-speech coordination: Evidence from production, comprehension, and imitation (FLESH). She is also the the second Equal Opportunity Officer of the ZAS.
Her research investigates acoustic and prosodic aspects of iconicity, as well as sound symbolism, and includes cross-linguistic studies. As part of the FLESH project, she explores kinematic properties, multimodality, and the evolution of language. Additionally, she has a strong interest in linguistic prominence. She earned her Ph.D. in General Linguistics from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in 2022. Aleksandra is also a co-initiator of envisionBOX, a platform empowering learners and creators working with multimodal data.
