Dissertation successfully defended

24.01.2017

On 24 January, Antje Skerra, a former ZAS scholarship holder, successfully defended her dissertation Verfügbarkeit von Kohäsionsmitteln für Kinder mit einer Sprachentwicklungsstörung at Humboldt University. So far it has been known that this disorder - which affects around 10% of children - is associated with difficulties in sentence construction, such as the acquisition of the verb second position. In her study of over 120 children aged 3 to 11, Skerra shows that the information structure and sentence connectors are also affected. This can drastically affect the understanding and production of texts, a key qualification for school. Antje Skerra worked at PB2 at ZAS from January 2011 to May 2014.
