Prof. Dr. Uli Sauerland is Vice Director of the Leibniz Centre for General Linguistics. He heads the Research Area IV 'Semantics & Pragmatics' and the following programs and projects:
The central question of Uli Sauerland's research is how people give meaning to sentences. He integrates results from language acquisition, field research and other sources to develop mathematically explicit models of this human ability. His expertise has helped to improve the diagnosis of speech disorders and the comprehensibility of medical guidelines.
