Prof. Dr. Ewald Lang was the founding director of the Centre for General Linguistics (ZAS) and before that the provisional director of the Research Unit General Linguistics, Typology and Research on Universals (FAS), the predecessor institution of the ZAS. Until his death in 2013, he was closely connected to the ZAS and was scientifically active in various projects.
