The ZAS and its two sister institutions under the joined organizational umbrella of The Centres for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (Geisteswissenschaftliche Zentren Berlin e. V., GWZ in short) are among the most popular research institutions in the humanities and social sciences in Germany in the ranking of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation!
Between 2018 and 2022, people with Humboldt scholarships from abroad spent their research stays at various educational institutions, including universities, universities of applied sciences, music and art colleges and non-university research institutions in Germany. The Foundation's ranking provides information on the distribution of these stays over the five years and shows which institutions were particularly popular with Humboldt Foundation scholarship holders.
Among the 400 non-university institutions, the GWZ ranked 9th in Germany, and even 1st in the humanities and social sciences. 23 scholarship holders and 6 award winners chose the GWZ as their host institution.
