Bedeutung und Kognition

Das Forschungsthema Bedeutung und Kognition hat als Ziel die Erforschung der Schnittstelle zwischen Kognition und sprachlich enkodierter Bedeutung. Es soll insbesondere untersucht werden, wie die Eigenschaften von kognitiven Systemen, wie zum Beispiel das approximative numerische System, den Bereich der möglichen semantischen Bedeutungen formen und restringieren. Es soll auch untersucht werden, wie sprachliche Bedeutungen von Kindern erworben werden und wie dies umgekehrt die Eigenschaften kognitiver Systeme formt. Der Fokus liegt dabei auf der Bedeutung von logischen Ausdrücken wie ‚und‘ und ‚oder‘, auf numerischen Ausdrücken und auf der sprachlichen Repräsentation von Skalen.

Das Forschungsthema baut auf der bestehenden Expertise in formaler Semantik und Pragmatik, im Bereich Kindersprache, in der Morphologie und anderen Bereichen auf. Die Untersuchungen kombinieren theoretisch motivierte experimentelle Forschung, kognitive Modellierungen und Forschungen zum Spracherwerb. Es sollen beispielsweise untersucht werden: Logische Operatoren und nicht-verbale Bedeutung, Maßskalen und numerische Kognition, Vagheit und Gradbezogenheit im Spracherwerb und Ikonizität. Das Forschungsthema lädt dazu ein, Beziehungen zwischen semantischer Forschung, Spracherwerbsforschung und Psychologie nachzugehen. Es wird zu einer Verfeinerung sowohl von semantischen Theorien als auch von kognitiven Modellen führen.
