Coordinating project XPrag.de: New Pragmatic Theories based on Experimental Evidence (SPP 1727)

The German Research Foundation (DFG) has established the priority programme "XPrag.de: New Pragmatic Theories based on Experimental Evidence" (SPP 1727) for a funding period of six years. In two phases of 3 years each, scientists at various German universities and research institutions cooperate in individual projects in the field of "Experimental Pragmatics".

In XPrag.de, linguists, psychologists, cognitive scientists and philosophers share the overarching goal of developing a precise pragmatic theory that takes into account evidence from empirical studies. By creating explicit formal models of cognitive mechanisms underlying pragmatics and testing them with experimental methods, the aim is to advance the development of pragmatic theory. During the first period, 16 projects were funded and in the current second phase fifteen.

The priority programme is coordinated at ZAS Berlin, where four of the individual scientific projects (LISI, MUQTASP, PSIMS und SIGames) are also located. More details about the programme and current projects as well as events and publications can be found at www.xprag.de.
