Dr. Marcin Wągiel is working with an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship in the project Mereotopology across linguistic domains / Research Area 4 'Semantics & Pragmatics'.
Marcin Wągiel is a semanticist working on the relationship between the form and the meaning of morphologically complex expressions. His linguistic interests centers around compositional semantics and syntax-semantics interface, in particular parthood, quantification, plurality, collectivity, distributivity, modification, genericity, comparison, event semantics and semantic change. In recent years, he focuses mainly on morphosemantics and linguistic applications of mereotopology, i.e., a theory of parts and wholes that extends standard mereology with topological notions. He often explores phenomena relating to subatomic quantification.
