Angela Schmidt is a doctoral researcher in the BMBF collaboration project Diagnosis of language abilities in multilingual children: Validation of a test battery (SPEAK) / Research area 2 Language development and multilingualism.
Her research focuses on multilingual children and adults' language processing and acquisition, particularly on the level of narratives and discourse. She uses psycholinguistic experimental methods such as eyetracking to investigate how language learners integrate language-specific morphosyntactic structures with real-world, situated factors during narrative comprehension and production. Further, she is interested in how this integration might undergo dynamic change as language users find themselves experiencing a shift in language dominance or language mode.
