Dr. Daniel Goodhue is a researcher in the ERC projekt Speech Acts in Grammar and Discourse (SPAGAD) / Research Area 4 'Semantics & Pragmatics'.

His research explores the boundary between semantics and pragmatics with the goal of explaining complex meaning phenomena from more basic, independently motivated grammatical representations and pragmatic principles. Specific phenomena he has investigated include focus, intonational contours, biased questions, rising declaratives, yes/no responses, epistemic modality, speech acts and clause types, and Japanese clausal embedding. Many of these projects employ experimental methods, including most recently work on first language acquisition.
