Dr. Émile Enguehard is working on an Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship in the project Questions in discourse: pragmatics beyond truth conditions (QuiD) / Research Area 4 'Semantics & Pragmatics'.
His research focuses on the mechanisms of the semantics/pragmatics interface and in particular the role of alternatives in the derivation of meaning. Some specific topics that he has worked are the derivation of scalar implicatures, the semantics of number, semantic universals, and the semantics of questions.
