Short Course II "Topics in Comparative Scandinavian and Germanic Syntax"

The course will both be about Scandinavian syntax and about what Germanic comparative syntax looks like from a Scandinavian point of view. It will include the following topics:

  • Reflexives and override reflexives in Danish and English

  • OV vs. VO order in Germanic (including particle variation, and unexpected German VO-infinitives with und)

  • V-to-T-movement and verb second (including immobile verbs in German)

and, if time permits, also

  • Double objects in Danish and English (and objects followed by PP-complements)

There will be five sessions of two hours each (s.t.), with a break in the middle:

  • 25.6. 1-3 pm

  • 3.7. 1-3 pm

  • 9.7.  1-3 pm
