Workshop program

The workshop will take place on August 30-31st at Leibniz-Centre General Linguistics (room 403). It is organized in cooperation with the Institut für deutsche Sprache und Linguistik, Humboldt- Universität zu Berlin.

This 2-lecture tutorial will provide a hands-on introduction to generalized additive modeling (GAMs), a flexible regression method able to model non-linear patterns (such as those occurring in time series data) while simultaneously taking into account fixed and random effect factors. In the first lecture, GAMs will be used to analyze non-linear patterns in articulatory data, whereas the second lecture will focus on non-linear interactions in ERP data.

The tutorial will be led by Martijn Wieling (University of Groningen) www. martijnwieling.nl/

In preparation, it is useful to read: Wieling, M. (2018, forthcoming).
