Acoustic analysis of voice quality

This workshop will provide a practical introduction to the acoustic examination of voice quality. It will provide an overview of core theoretical concepts and acoustic measures corresponding to particular voice qualities, and demonstrate how these can be estimated, visualised and examined. (Semi) automatic methods for identifying creaky voice will also be introduced. The workshop will include hands-on practical activities and an opportunity for participants to work with their own data. No experience in voice quality analysis is required, but basic phonetic knowledge is assumed. Participants should have basic competence working in R.
